See I don't agree. Just because you do something because of someone's gender does not mean is sexist.

 

If I meet a bloke and he's wearing make up and I ask him why, does that mean I'm being sexist?

Well the make up thing is quite difficult because with the advent of the metrosexual it sort of creates a middle ground between pure masculinity and women's femininity where there is general acceptance that a bloke wearing make up, nail polish and moisturiser is okay.

 

Though I don't think the first sentence is 100% correct either, it should be "if you do something that is characterised/performed by the opposite sex as the norm, you should be able to do that same activity without having to face questions over you ability due to your sex". For example, if a women criticised a man for wearing makeup because he is a man, that would be sexist but if you were a guy (who didn't wear make up) and you ask him why, I would say that isn't being sexist.

 

Anyway back to Lucy Zelic ogling! :)

Dumb article tbh. None of the criticisms levelled at her on social media (she's not Robinson Crusoe) don't necessarily have anything to do with the fact she's a woman. I'm sure every pundit has copped similar comments.

 

And yes Debbie, sometimes you will need to justify why you like the game. Not because people are sexist, because it is not the norm for a woman to enjoy sport (the majority of sports lovers are men). If a man professed his most loved sport was netball, would showing surprise at that be sexist? No, it would be a normal reaction.

 

I'm sick of this ridiculous pc crap. It's at the point where people don't want to be different, women want to be treated like men but guess what, you're not a man, get over it and celebrate being a bloody woman.

 

I think it's great to treat women differently. I love opening doors for dates, so I want her to do it for me? No, because we're different. I love treating women with extra gentleness and softness. Is that sexist? If it is, string me up because I think that's how a woman should be treated and I'll carry on doing it.

Obviously these examples aren't in a corporate context but Lucy herself said she is treated great in the work place.

 

So bring on the counter rants and cries of chauvinism ;)
