Nnnnnathan12 Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 NRL and Football have two common enemies, AFL and Union. It makes more sense for these two sports to combine to crush Union (which is already happening), and then work on AFL. I actually dont mind Union, they might be a bunch of upper class snobs but at least their players dont carry on like idiots unlike AFL and NRL

I just don't know why we need two forms of rugby. One is enough. We are the only country in the world where league is a powerful and influential sport. ARU and NRL should merge so there are less code wars in this country

I don't know whether it's an Australian thing but we seem to care as much about the spirit of the way the game is played, as we do about winning. I would attribute the better behaviour to the better education that the Rugby boys receive. AFAIK it is still mandatory for them to get a UNI education, whereas in League they blow smoke up your ass from a high school age and only expect the lowest common denominator. marron Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Unionites tend to hail from already privileged backgrounds; there has always therefore been a culture within it that would expect certain modes of behaviour. As it was an amateur game up until the 90s there was also a culture of making sure you had a profession as well.
mack Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I tried capping a video but channel 9's video player sucks and I couldn't find it, the thing kept refusing to load so I gave up.

WSW2150 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Awesome advertising for our support group and the club in general
WSW1981 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 (To clarify, I like casuals. I just know that someone is going to take this way too seriously very soon.) I gotta say I hate the so called "casual culture" my understanding correct me if I'm wrong is that casual culture came about in england, and with all the troubles that were goin on there with cracking down on genuine hooligans (not the lie propaganda they doing against RBB) the fans would dress is expensive sports apparel so that they could blend in with common folk and evade the police from suspicion that they are actual fans of the club. so they get infiltrate opposing fans territory etc to cause trouble and fight and bulsHtttttt Now we have people in WSW wanting to emulate such a culture when this culture has nothing to do with Australia..... its like the hip hop culture of america, and all of a sudden "Aussie Hip Hop" using slang that did not come about organically in australia...... nothing but wannabe Aussie fans don't have a need for this "casual culture" give me the germans like dortmund, where the entire stadium is black and yellow I don't see them imitating england
