Apparently his HK club are folding.

And within minutes Facebook exploded with desperate "Come back Jerrad we miss you" pleas. People need to let go FFS.

JT's a nice bloke and a competent keeper but it's not like he was cut due to an exorbitant salary demand. I wish him well but I can't see him back with an A-League club anytime soon. I doubt a year in the HK League has suddenly turned him from journeyman to the next Mat Ryan…

I can't exactly remember, but did Jerrad even let in a goal during his time at WSW.

That's 3 games he was between the pegs in 2 seasons. Still not sure why this is sufficient for proclaiming him the Messiah, like so many here and on Facebook are keen to do.

Competent, yes, for sure. I still wouldn't rate him higher than Bouzanis as a GK though.

I reckon we take him back.

I mean, look at Bouzanis - that guy has lots of potential, but we arent' sure what we will be getting if he's our #1. Add to that, almost half of our squad is going to be new, so we don't know whats really gonna happen there either.

But with Jerrad, we know exactly what we'll getting, so that will at least will be comforting for the fans.

What will we be getting? A **** goalkeeper.

Jerrad is a **** goalkeeper.

But we know that, so its cool.

Sign Jerrad FFS.

NO MORE SUN FOR PEGASUS?

May 28, 2015

Sun Pegasus FC might cede to exist by the end of this season, as the sponsor decided to withdraw its investment from the club. Meanwhile key players have already announced their departure.

In 2008 the club was founded as Tin Shui Wai Pegasus (TSW Pegasus) with the help of former South China chairman Steven Lo. Given his involvement and the acquisition of several former “Carolinersâ€, Pegasus was soon dubbed the “South China B Teamâ€. This has also laid the foundation for an exciting rivalry between the two teams and their “derby†has become one of the league highlights over the last years.

After the 2011/12 season, the club was taken over by Sun International Group, which is listed at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and has also been involved in the local horse racing-market (in fact, equine business is part of its current company portfolio). Since then, Sun Pegasus continued to claim its spot among Hong Kong’s “Big Four†(next to Kitchee, Eastern and South China), especially in terms of its financial potency. However, dropping “Tin Shui Wai†from its title, the club has also lost its affiliation with the local community of the satellite town in the New Territories, where most of its previous youth development work was situated. Soon after Sun Pegasus moved to Mong Kok Stadium, sharing the same home ground with Kitchee SC.

Although the team finished as 3rd in the inaugural Premier League season and only lost momentum after an inspiring series of victories, it failed to live up to the wide-spread expectations that the side should be ready for its first trophy. With the most recent defeat against YFCMD in the 2014/15 Season Playoff semi-final, the fate of Sun Pegasus has apparently been decided: Sun International Group will pull out and the club has to find a new sponsor as soon as possible in order to continue its operation next year.

30-year-old key player Deng Jinghuang tried hard to fight back his tears after the last game against YFCMD when announcing that he will return to Guangzhou. Australian goalkeeper Jerrad Tyson, who transferred last year from Western Sydney Wanderers, has also already confirmed his departure from Hong Kong.

Offside.hk will keep you updated about the future of the club. Meanwhile, we wish the players and fans all the best, while hoping to see again a Pegasus team in the coming Premier League season. Ideally one that doesn’t shy away from its roots. How about a re-birth of TSW Pegasus?

Tyson is the peoples champ for sure, and that is why there is so much love for him.   HOWEVER that doesnt mean squat on the field, he played 3 game, behind the best defence in the league, easy to get clean sheets.  Bouzanis cops crap for letting a few in , however Covic too let many in this year,  behind prob the worst defence in the league.. I dont know about anyone else , however I think there is a connection there yeah???    Id love tyson back at the club as some kind of ambassodor, but really Bouzanis >>> Tyson , there is just no comparison

Yeah so bouzanis no 1. I mean that was my impression, that we got him to replace covic when he retired.

Reality is that Tyson won't come back because he was not seen as an asset to the side going forward two years ago and that won't have changed.

Redmayne > Tyson

Yes, I agree but there are a lot of people who judge this with their hearts and not with their heads. If you look at the team as a whole, more so the defence they had to work behind at the time when they make their judgement, there is no comparison. Then there are others who judge Tyson for what he brought to the club off the field for the juniors and interaction with the fans. Tyson is a legend and a great club man but this alone won't bring you a Football contract.

Redmayne > Tyson

Time will tell but hard to make that sort of call when we didn't see very much of Tyson & what we have seen of Redmayne doesn't inspire confidence.

FMD I am the first to tell everyone to calm down for the Redmayne signing. But for ****s sake Jerrad Tyson ole ole ole.

Hopefully he gets a full season.

FAAAAARRRRRRKKKKKK

Covic and Tyson potentially reuniting, wonder if Tyson can usurp Covic during the season? Glad to see Jerrad back in the A-league, hope he gets his shot soon.

People forget that Tyson signed for Perth after our 2nd season, hence why he was leaving. Then Perth backflipped and signed Vukovic and left Tyson out in the cold. That's why he went to HK.

And also, Tyson was a very late signing for WSW before S1. I got the impression he was signed because basically there were no other options at the time. He was never a long term prospect.

Unlike Bouzanis who was signed on to become the no.1. Tyson was purely a backup just in case Covic got injured. He only played because of the schedule we had. Bouzanis played a lot more last season than Tyson did in 2.

Bouzanis played because of the schedule we had & due to Covic's drop in form (can't blame the guy for dropping off but can't deny it didn't happen), had Tyson been our season 3 keeper I think he'd be given same chances that Bouzanis had in S3. The few chances that Bouzanis had in S3 he was less than convincing whereas Tyson had half the opportunities but was definitely more convincing in S2. In S2 Covic had half the issues with schedule/travel in S3 than he did in S2, so it isn't surprising he performed at a higher level nor had the drop off in form. With this line of thinking it is no surprise that Tyson had less appearances in S2 than Bouzanis in S3. Question remains, if the roles were reversed would Tyson had just as many opportunities (trusted in goals) in S3 as Bouzanis?

He might have been a late signing & a last resort but I think he proved himself that he could perform as a reserve keeper. He might not have been a long term prospect but his performances for the club definitely showed he could do the job. The hardest thing for most would be the fact that he completely immersed himself into the Western Sydney community, became one of us, gave back to us & became the people's champion.

No one knows if Tyson would have had the same opportunities as Bouzanis.

Let's remember, Tyson also had a rock solid defence in front of him, whereas Bouzanis didn't.

I'm not praising nor condemning either guy's ability, but I always got the impression (even from Tyson himself) that he was never going to be a long term prospect.

If he has a shocking season at Perth are people going to go "Phew! dodged a bullet there!" ;)

He also got dropped as Sun Pegasus first choice keeper towards the end of the season, which also says something (not sure how much we can read into it as not many people follow the HK league that closely). Will be very interesting to see how he goes this season, either as first choice or as reserve keeper.

HK league wouldnt be that dis-similar to the NSWPL..

Just because Tyson made 3 clean sheets in his 3 games doesnt mean he's a Covic replacement. Good luck to him

My source (ie the gf's brother who is living in HK) said something along the lines of that they started to prefer the local GK over Tyson. Not sure if it was based on ability or national allegiance.
