He needs Hersi's speed, that is all that's missing.

He needs everything Hersi has except the speed, he has already got that and more.

Reminds me of a bull. Can run and run; and nothing more.

So another to join d'Apuzzo on the Zola naughty corner list?

Kubi has promise and room to improve his game, d'apuzzo on the other hand.... Believe me he is the only one on the list!

How come during games I don't See the speed in Kubi that everyone else does?

Did you see him outrun the LB for Glory a few times last night? He made up like 5m of space and stole a loose ball or something and threatened.

He made Woodcock's night a real traumatic experience, but if he'd faced a LB who actually knew what he was doing and was adequately coached by someone other than Kenny Lowe Kwabi might've been struggling. I like him and think he is a player for the future however if Hersi goes (as everyone seems to predict) is KA up to the job of being his replacement for longer term? I'm not so sure...

I think long term there's no reason why he couldn't be a replacement....short term though he'd need to improve a hell of a lot

I've yet to change my opinion that he is our David Bellion.

If there was some end product crossing ability, he'd be a guaranteed 1st team starter.  But he isn't and that's why we rarely see him.  I don't think you can coach in that ability to players like this.  They're a tease and prove frustratingly so forever more.

He's had some very good displays this year against the Heart & Glory. He's made progress on last season so there is no reason to believe he can't continue to improve the other aspects of his game.

 Bellion! There's a name...

Appiah can be a dangerous player if he learns to play smart. I will admit he has improved this year. But he reminds me a bit of Juric. Showing glimpses of good things during games. But not quite there yet. Needs to show more consistency.

Kubi is like Walcott most of the time he runs around like a headless chicken but you hope one day it comes together. it seemed to this year for walcott and then he slipped and fell... 6 months out

he's no where near as fast on the ball as he is off it.

at the feew youth games ive been to, its a lot easier to watch his pace off the ball than it is a parra when you're singing, jumping and watching the game more.

Great game last night, anyone reckon he will make the step up to fill Hersi's role next season?

Needs another year. He now looks smooth and dangerous when he is on the ball. Doesn't get cornered or mongreled as much by defenders. Just needs that something extra. That determination and cunning which will allow him to score more and also set up more goals.

I think that partially happened because I'm thinking Kawasaki would've prepared for Hersi and got Appiah instead, they weren't really sure what to do with him, I think. A few times the defender tried to chase him down and then realised Appiah had 99 sprint speed...

Interesting thought and didn't really countenance such an idea until what you've posted, combined with how KWF set themselves up in the first half with a lot of their better players on the bench.

What I really liked about Kwabs on Wednesday night was his vision and sense of how and when to release his passes has improved in just a few games. Plus (though this might be due to the opposition) he wasn't afraid of trying to mix it physically (though he did get crunched when in the box at one point).

For my 2 cents he is definitely now on the path to being the regular Hersi replacement next season...not 100% there but much further down the road than this time last season.

One step forward then two steps back is a good way of describing him, he really struggles with whats going on out there at times and makes a few poor decisions when to time his runs and positioning when players are trying to link a pass to him. Popa really needs to do alot of video reply work to show him what he needs to be doing and not trying to take on two/three players by himself. I like this kid but has a long way to go to be a full time replacement for Hersi, I hope he can get it right as his speed is dangerous and could become a great asset. I know I might sound a bit harsh but first half he was frustrating to watch.

Not harsh...damn fair assessment. He also needs to do something about his pinball physique...ie bouncing off almost any oppo player and in the process getting dispossessed. The weird thing is that Hersi is probably less well built but he has a far more imposing, or at least tenacious attitude with his body strength. Kwabs bounces in and off his opposite man like a superball.

Yep burgernan nail and head stuff right there

This guy reminds me of Walcott so much it ain't funny - wenger took 6 years to turn Walcott from a headless chicken into a polished footballer

Appiah is the same you see glimpses of brillanxe but consistently his timing, field positioning and decision making needs a lot of work. Hopefully Popa can work faster than wenger did

I didn't think he got great service last night, the long balls we tried to get to him were either overhit or dealt well by their LB. And the times he could run at the defence, he was closed down very quickly.

Last night I saw this and I wondered whether it would be better if Appiah dropped back a bit and tried to link up play instead of playing on the shoulder of the LB and trying to go through.

Im still not convinced with Appiah, even with his brief cameo last night

Very poor decision making and poor control of the ball, hes got pace but miles behind we were need him to be as a Hersi replacement
