Will be watching on P+

Let's make it a W

Kick-off delayed due to lightning. Not sure if it'll also delay the men's game.

Starts 5.20pm, so it shouldn't affect it

Also round 1 of watching it on P+ and I'm already not feeling the new A-League anthem. I remember when the Friday? games were on SBS and we had this glorious intro/team line-up music:

I guess you could say the atmosphere is electric

The women's jersey looks so much better than the men's jersey. It's nice to have the main jersey sponsor fit in (literally) with the jersey

Also, it's pretty windy over there. The box holding up the match ball just fell over... are we playing in Wellington? Seems like the weather travelled over

Wollongong is always windy since it's literally on the beach.

Gallagher with a shot off the post - it should've been 1-0

In terms of the build-up play, beautiful defence splitting pass through the heart of defence. Are the men's team taking notes?

We'll see ...

The team aren't grabbing this game by the scruff of the neck

Eight of the Wellington starters are 18 years old apparently - we really should be bullying them a lot more

As usual the ref is incompetent. WSW had two nonsense cards then the Nix have a player crunch one of our players late and get away with it.

Georgia YD with a good observation from the commentary box: the referee seems to think about the game more from a tactical perspective, penalising 'professional fouls' and breaking up promising attacks, rather than crunching tackles.

Fantastic first time shot from Halloway

Gallagher with a great cut-back. Intelligent play and a good shot.

I saw Carl on the sidelines watching but notebook nowhere to be seen

Hunt dribbles the ball... straight to a Wellington attacker who got too excited and decided to shoot from 25 metres out, rather than pushing the ball forward for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

So so lucky not to concede.

Referee giving everything to the Nix women.

Nice to see our club teams are both playing the same way. Ineffective passing, no penetration and looking like the 2nd best team despite being supposedly the better one.

60 seconds after: Henry steals the ball off the defender, goal-mouth scramble x 2.

Perhaps we had to match pace with pace?

I'm trying to remember the last time I watched a game involving an Australian national team or Wanderers teams where we had a good game .. apart from that FFA Cup game it would probably be the Oman men or Brazil women's national games 2 months ago.

Excluding the NT then the 2-0 vs the Roar in the A-League back in May?

I'd like to see a slower build-up from us. There's so much more space here so we can take the short pass option and build up. It was like watching APIA Leichhardt last night in the FFA Cup, it was 11 v 9 but they still insisted in silly long balls and low percentage passes.

Full time 0-0.

There's the result of club being cheap and ditching Heffernan and not bothering to do much international recruiting. We'll be mid-table at best with this squad.
