Since the women’s team’s last win they’ve now played 13 games, for 1 draw and 12 losses.

amazing academy

Not on the women's side.

We constantly let our better players go, the women's side is made up of kids

We produce decent players but we let the go just as they get to A League W standard

There are few other issues

1. The previous lack of investment in the women's team. Now most players on 2 year contracts.

2. The warning given by Alen Stajcic as Matilda's head coach to all women's players NOT to go to Wanderers

Coaching womens teams is also about giving a sense of belonging. I don't think the club has focused on that.

Umm we have 'Wanderers Fives' training pitches now, clearly a very good use of money

Stajcic basically said if you want to be in contention for Matilda's selection, don't sign with us.

Can you blame the women's NT coach telling players not to go to to the worst A-league women's team in the league. 1 win in 19 that how bad it is.

Keep saying it the one time I regularly watched the girls was when they signed the American striker and went on a finals run. Comparing that team and how they played under Heffernan and the current one is like night a day. The current Wanderers side is equivalent to park football quality. The girls are entirely neglected.

For a number of years (even before WSW had a women's team), Staj very much held sway as to who was going to be developed in NSW women's/girls football. If Staj didn't like you then that path was much more difficult and Michelle Heyman probably suffered more than most early in her career. You're right about the football played under Heffernan and Cannuli was part of his support team. One of the issues that concerns me is that if we don't get our act together and the Bulls appoint Canulli as their inaugural women's coach then we are going to lose even more key players. The west is awash with talent but we're just not capturing and retaining them

Bulls are not getting a womens team. Mariners have got the 12th license.

There are not enough playersvto have 14 teams in the A-League Womens competition.

There are not enough players now.......Bulls will probably want a team in 2/3 years so we do have time on our side

Doesn't matter about time, how many years have we had and we are getting worse not better..we have made the semis once and that was based on some ace imports two of which left before the finals and we fell in a heap

Heffernan had the best imports and best football but wasn't paid properly

To be clear, he was paid properly (no Bakrie type situations), but the club don't run the entire football department for the whole year. The entire W-League program gets shut down once the season is over and restarted from scratch 6 months later. We've lost multiple good coaches who know what playing for this club means like Heffernan, Covic, Canulli because the owners don't want to pay them for the whole year so they go find new jobs, often leaving football entirely.

And then not even to the end of the season, that wasn't real improvement in a way as it was built on sand, it didn't even last a full season

Ok. He wasn't paid an annual salary, only for when the team was in pre-season, season and finals.

Not a proper situation for anyone needing to pay the bills for 12 months.

That's a bit of a dick move if that's true. That'll close any chances of him ever being appointed to the club if the likes of Kat Smith or Mark Rudan were to depart from the Wanderers.

Then again, Stajcic is such a passionate fan of Sydney FC (despite grown up in the Western Sydney Area) that it would not surprise me if the likes of Corica or Ante Juric were departed from Sydney FC, they would immediately be trying to get him to put the pen to paper for either squad.

Perhaps Staj has changed his tune (or just wants his players acclimated to Australian conditions).

At this point he's probably more interested in his players getting game time (and not getting injured).

I think the Philippines Women's Team has played multiple friendlies at Wanderers Football Park in the last 9 months.

Stajcic may have moved, a little to the west.

The Philippines team manager is actually Jefferson Cheng who is part owner of WSW and is funding the Philippines Women's National Team.

I've watched every Philippines Womens National Team game since this year and Sarina Bolden is ****en cracker. An absolute game changer

I have a hunch that we might be signing a GK from the PWNT also

I wouldn't put the Smurf bias into this. The Wanderers Ladies are a really poor team, I mean watch them and you see how bad it is and we have been just getting worst. Wellington is better than us and they just entered during COVID. Western United just came in and are already top 4.

Yea they have been using the academy laying a few friendlies against some countries like PNG who have play offs comming up. Again re-iterating the Wanderers ladies team is really poor and neglected.
