@mintoff

If you're lucky there may 50 - 100 WSW fans in attendance on a Wednesday night in Melbourne, during the pre-season.

There is a FB group for WSW supporters based in Mexico. They intend to gather at the Precinct Hotel for pre-game beverages.

This goes one of two ways depending on who WSW can get together. Jurman, Tass, Mcgowan starting, I expect a win. If we have to diddle with the backline too much, I'll be worried.

It sounds odd maybe, but my biggest interest in this game is Kamau. Babbel spent half of last season grooming him as a defender, presumably in preparation for a 3/5ATB where he plays a hybrid of his old role and new. By then he will have had almost a full preseason. I want to see a glimpse into his near future. Almost every other player is in a role they are very familar with, maybe with the exception of Georgevski but hes an experienced player who's shown immediate aptitude for the role.

Even if we sign a striker in the next 2 weeks, you'd assume Mo is starting up front. If the worst happens - we dont get any strikers and dukes injury gets worse, Mo is going to have to adapt to senior footy quick. This might be his first big test starting a game against aleague oppo with actual outcomes on the line.

We'll field the same squad or very close to that which played against SU58.

Jurman is a couple of weeks away from playing any meaningful minutes.

Russell should be over the concussion he suffered in the YS game by next week & could be available off the bench

Duke, Grozos, & possibly even Ziegler whose workload is still being managed, will all be available for selection within the next few weeks.

J'OD is still months away from playing.

Have I overlooked any outfield players in our squad?

You think Babbel may have thoughts of having Jurman line-up from the bench and rest Russell?

I doubt he'll be risked, as he hasn't played any minutes as yet.

MB will again place his trust in Cordier & Wilmering who can cover LCB & LWB. DG can play RWB if required, as he did on Wednesday. Tarek can also play WB on either side

Given Sullivan was named on the bench for the last FFA game whilst injured & unable to participate (you must name 4 subs) it will be interesting to see who we name on the bench.

Monge will probably be one to cover our midfield options, but I'm not sure who we may name as an attacking option, unless Duke or Kosta is fit enough (club don't want to risk either yet) or we name an u20 player non contracted player.

Basically our starting 11 have to get the job done, as we won't have much impact off the bench

It wouldn't surprise me to see Kamau as a makeshift striker if required but obviously he won't have fresh legs if he starts at RWB.  As you pointed out, RWB can be covered comfortably.

I'll be there with andypk. FCB was thinking about going too. Don't know if he is.

Just read that 19 year old Connor Metcalfe is set to start for City. He played in the Olyroos. Sounds like Moembarts thinks we are playing 3 at the back with the wingbacks. He said he is going to press hard at our defenders. Should we be worried because I hope Kamau knows what he is doing if that happens?

Nothing a good old fashion long ball can't fix.

Seriously though as long as the channels to Baccus and Schwegler are open we should be able to play around it.

No Schwegler tomorrow. I would assume Wilmering will take his spot.

I was confident...not so much now

I don't feel comfortable now that Schwegler is injured. My hopes have dropped significantly.

When did he get injured? At training? If so...that's not a good sign

Life, football and airlines!

10:45 jetstar flight cancelled!

Offered 5pm too bloody late!

Suggested try virgin etc

Virgin, yeah sure, 3pm $750 for 2. Because there have been cancellations! Yeah, we know about the cancellations! Bastards! No thanks.

Tiger, 3pm near enough to same price as Jetstar booking. Done deal. Staff helped us do it online to save a $40 fee.

Now drinking.

Cheers from Ed and andypk.

Is there anymore info on Schweglers injury?

We've had as many injuries this preseason as we could expect a whole season, (if we are to be contenders) this doesn't bode well

Been an issue I have been harping on about for a couple of seasons now.  Doesn't seem to improve despite changes in club staff.

Agreed.

Previous seasons my hopes weren't high so it didn't concern me. Finally it looks like we're getting our ducks in a row with recruitment etc but this has me concerned.
