West13 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 RBB STATEMENT ***Statement*** The recently published articles attacking football fans, all of whom have not been given the opportunity to challenge bans or the allegations on which they are based, are derogatory, inflammatory and in many cases defamatory. They may, and already have destroyed people’s careers and lives. This article was also an attack on football as a whole. The growth of the sport has become an obvious threat to other codes. Fans were targeted and it is time for the FFA to defend their biggest asset, the paying customers. This is nothing less than the filth we would expect from a two time drink driver, who has also been done for driving without a licence, supported by an alleged London toilet loiterer and expert on love letters to schoolboys. In saying this, the real issues are the breach of privacy and confidentiality of these fans. There are rumours of how the leak eventuated, but nonetheless, the FFA cannot avoid being held accountable. Whether it was a journalist, the SCG trust, Hatamoto or the NSW Police, this confidential information falls under the FFA's jurisdiction, and they are complicit in it being exposed. Their banning notices state that personal details are "considered confidential and will only be used to enforce this banning notice for the specified period". If fans can be "guilty by association", then so can the associations. There is no accountability or natural justice. People's lives and livelihoods have been jeopardised due to the existence of a list that has been created without due process. Many of these fans, some of which are under 18, have not been charged or convicted of offences. Certainly, none have had the benefit of any kind of process let alone an appeals process capable of vindicating their ban or presence on a 'list'. Yet despite that, they have just been branded as guilty of something, and that something in most cases is nothing more than being a passionate football fan. In fact, some of those who have appeared on the list were banned as a result of allegedly engaging in what the FFA calls "anti-social behaviour" at events that they did not attend. This has happened far too often. The FFA's silence is deafening. At present they have not issued a statement into how this occurred or made any attempt to defend those affected. They have treated fans with contempt once again, and active support around the country is standing up to a corporation that sees itself as above the law. A disgraceful organisation, from the top down. The RBB will be in attendance at the Mariners away game on Sunday. We are there to show support to the boys and let them know this is not about them. There will then be a walk out at a specific moment of the game. We love the team and we love the sport but we cannot continue to tolerate being used as promotional material whilst our human and civil rights are not afforded us. The FFA need to take the following steps to correct this; 1. Issue a statement condemning the articles and supporting the fans. 2. Launch an investigation into how such information was leaked and present the findings to the public in a transparent manner. 3. Work out and implement an INDEPENDENT & TRANSPARENT APPEALS PROCESS, agreed upon by all parties including every active support group. Until these steps are addressed, we will take the action we deem necessary to bring these issues to light. We will continue to do so until there is a resolution that ensures the rights and confidentiality of all fans is upheld. We take this stance in unison with Melbourne's North Terrace and other active groups. Now is the time. Stand United.
Guest mickisnot Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Option D: Unsure whether I'll go. God speed RBB.

Guest redwhiteblack Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 I can understand why the RBB and most people will walk out at some point during the match, everyone can. But allow those who want to stay and watch the game to do as they wish.

But I recall after the pepper spray debacle, there were certain forumites that had certain things to say about those that wanted to stay behind while the rest of the rbb left.

West13 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Maybe La Banda and the Brass Band can join up outside and do a mashup? Hehe
102megan Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 My 2 cents - if you're considering staying, but still support the cause - at least move to the non-TV/ shade side.

But I recall after the pepper spray debacle, there were certain forumites that had certain things to say about those that wanted to stay behind while the rest of the rbb left. That is true. However i think the onus is on the RBB/Active members to walk out as one this time. The pepper spray incident was different in that it was unplanned and a quick response to an incident then and there. If you are non-active i really so think you can do what you want without judgement. If you are Active at Gosford you dont have to leave, but having been warned of the intent to walk out, at least move to another bay. This will be on tv and sitting in the centre of the active bay will leave someone looking like a tosser. However, it is every persons right to do as they please. It is also everyones right to an opinion, and this situation is very different to the perth match, so IMHO please at least just move to a non-active bay so everyone wins (the message is made clearly and whoever wants to stay, can stay and watch without feeling like a twat)
Guest BlackSpy Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 In for the match and in for the walkout. Despite the fact I won't be walking. Rolling > Walking Don't loiter around. They will book you for illegally parking a vehicle and slap a ban on you.
West13 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 New 'walkout' song.. (melbourne boys tune) La la la la la la la la la .. la la La la la la la la la la la .. la la **** the FFA **** the FFA Without the fans you haven't got a league. (Last line 'a league', not 'a-league') Let's see if this sticks
GunnerWanderer Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Gunner jnr's bday so won't be at game due to family event. Good luck to those who walk out. Hopefully it sends the messages to those you want to reach and they sit up and take notice. Edited November 24, 2015 by GunnerWanderer

I'll be happy to make myself look extremely helpless for a front page article on overzealous banning orders "Wheelchair bound terrorist wreaks havoc on footpath" Dozens of peaceful football fans were agressivley forced onto the nature strip as this reckless hooligan steered his vehicle towards the exit gate at Bluetongue Stadium. Police confiscated the wheelchair to search for explosives however none were found. A spokesman said "you can't be too careful with these things. We know that terrorists have used vehicles as mobile bombs before" David Gallop praised the brave security staff for putting an end to the footpath rampage. "Family friendly environments are what we are all about. We take a zero tolerance approach to wheelchair hooliganism"
thefairy Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 So where to go after the walk out? Home? For sure in for the walk out.

theguest7 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Option 4 really - not going (I've got work) but if I did go I would've walked out. Those that wish to stay obviously can, you're grown ups and make your own decisions. If you do though, please move to a non-TV bay and please don't sing. Again, nobody can tell you to do this but if you have some sense of solidarity you'd do it.
Legionista Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Wonder what the police/security reaction will be to all this.
nmh94 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Maybe optimistic, but if us and Victory are walking out (I'm assuming at the same minute?) it would be great if the Cove would do the same. It would also be great if the Melburnians changed their boycott stance, and did the same. Could you imagine, all Melbourne and Sydney clubs united in this? It would send a serious message. Agree with the above posts, if you want to stay, move to a non-active area and don't chant.
lloydy136 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 statement was excellent imo. good to see some co-ordination between the groups as well. some things (not many but some) are bigger than club rivalries. will be walking out no question about it - united we stand. people are free to make their own choices of course but I would feel let down by anyone who holds a wsw active membership who stays on sunday. united we stand. I would say that the next step would be to boycott the away derby and then the finals (as the ffa gets all the gate money for them iirc) responsibility of the players is to be 4-0 up when the walkout starts!
West13 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Anyone have a clue (or educated guess) what minute the walkout happens?
dmixtaaa Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Anyone have a clue (or educated guess) what minute the walkout happens? As late as possible please...We sing for yellow must not be the loudest chant of the day....
