I'll never forget the raging debate of Parramatta vs. ANZ/Allianz for the final last year.

 

My and I believe your simple reasoning, if I'm not mistaken for another user, was that we refused to move venues for the sake of band wagoners. (not even talking about player psychology, just "F-uck the band wagon")

 

It's nights like last tonight that I can't help but take a step back and chuckle. Seriously where the **** were these people?

 

 

couldn't agree with this more. so glad we didn't pander to the event-goers. they don't deserve it. 7K is an embarrassment for the most important game we have played in  quite a while though. membership renewals will be very interesting. we hit a bit of a catch 22 this season - people knew they needed membership to get access to any games at all so they bought one probably with never any intention to actually attend even 50% of the games. this was great for membership numbers but it locked out a lot of potential new fans who couldn't get match tickets for games - now both groups have lost interest. this has left us in a ridiculous situation of having 12K travel to Brisbane for a final and then 10 months later having 7K show up for a crucial champions league game at home. the hope that we were going to be immune to the sydney fickle event goer mentality looks to have been misplaced. disappointing.

People in Sydney want an 'event'. We have been that event plenty of times (derbies, season one streak, ACL final), and so have many other Sydney sporting sides. Going out of loyalty or just to enjoy the football unfortunately doesn't apply to as many of our fans as we once hoped.

Another game we should of won but same old story of dominating early and not scoring our chances.

Juric should have been awarded a pen but it probably equals out the covic non own goal.

We ran out of gas late in the second then seoul started to dominate and were lucky to hold with tired legs and this is were I don't understand why popa played a decent strengh team on Friday.

Thought Romeo was a bit off in the second but he was tired and seoul were double teaming him at times.

Golec was woeful but popa probably didn't have sny other option and he certainly was a target not helping nts.

The kid aspro is classy and has a good level head on him and some nice work playing out from the back.

Feel for haliti but ruka probably would of missed just as bad.

Tanaka is technically an awesome player and if we could fill rb/lb or 3 cb I would move him to holding midfield with yojirio.

Still feels good knowing were still in the Acl despite the season we've had.

I get a bit tired with Sydney constantly being singled out as being the event going city.  Melbourne is full of theartre-goers and the fans disappear when times get tough.  You just have to look at the last season Victory was not in the hunt for the 6.  They started with crowds of 40k then 39k, dropped to 25k for the third home game and by the end of the season the last 3 games had 14k, 12k and 11k in that order.  Taking the first 2  marquee games out of it their crowd halved because of the poor form of the club.  Sydney isn't much different to the rest of sporting Australia.

A couple of years ago I punched in the numbers for the afl vs the NRL. The afl gets bigger crowds. But they drop away at the same rate overall when their teams have bad seasons.

Golec was outclassed last night and was lacking every time they came down his wing. Bulut and Castelen are relentless and so valued..Haliti is a bench started at best, even next season, I think we can find better. With a rested, fit and full strength side + one or two new key positions filled we will be a force next season...

Haliti wasn't the only one refusing to pass to an open player, Castelen was just as guilty, but the Haliti ones seem to hurt more

 you can never ever fault castelen,

 

that guy is a V12 man. does not stop running up and down and his passing is amazing.

 

im always confident when he has the ball at his feet

 

 

Last night Romeo seemed to want to do too much, and when he did pass a lot of his passes were short and cut off. I think he's awesome, but last night wasn't his best showing.

 

He also needs some shoot ***** confidence.

THIS IS THE ****ING PROBLEM! For all I care, these ****wit bandwagoners can **** off and go support ESFC, where you dont need a ****ing membership cause the ****ing stadium is **** 3 quarters empty..

Bulut was making good runs but was not getting the delivery. Castelan and bridge had perfect opportunity to pass the ball to him but delayed their pass or it was a hospital pass. Haliti is rubbish. 

 

Yes, not too much mention of Bridge from last night, but he was very close to stealing the 3 points for "Crappest on Pitch" from Golec.

 

Best days are behind him I fear.

The season has started for club footballers.  Tuesday is a regular training night for many as is Wedneday and Thursday.  We will have trouble fielding a team this weekend because people are away on holidays.  I've never been to a mid week WSW match as it has always clashed with coaching or playing.  

 

While many of you might put the club first, many like myself (and my kids) would prefer to play the game rather than watch it.  There is life beyond the WSW bubble.

 

Some of the crap I have watched this season makes me wonder if my $800 is better spent on my Foxtel rather than renewing my membership.  But I guess that makes me a bandwagoner.   

 

Get off your high horses and take in the fact that people have different priorities in their lives.

That's fair enough Boban. We're all supporters, no one more than any other. We all hurt when we lose as well as celebrating when we win. I've walked away from Pirtek after a midweek game wondering why the hell I've taken the night off work and losing $150 in wages to watch another defeat. Can't help it but I'm back there next match. I'm no better than someone who is a member but can only make a handful of matches each season.

 

Let's celebrate the fact that we all follow the Asian Champions and the passion that we share for a club just over 2 years old. The good times will return and the stadium will be a sell out again and I welcome back each and every one of those 'bandwagoners' and the newcomers.

I get what you are saying there and have many of the same pressures family/coaching/playing (I missed the GE game to go with my daughter to her yr6 into 7 transition evening) - BUT all of those same things existed for WSW fans 12 months ago and 2 years ago when the stadium was packed and tickets were going on ebay for twice face value.

 

you will always have a % of people that can't get to a game for legit reasons thats not what I am upset about but I don't think it can be disputed that we have had some people who were coming to games that aren't now because we have had a poor season and its not all novelty and glory like it was. those 'fans' deserve criticism imo.

to ******* true mate dont bother getting a membership next year this aint ******* nrl or afl you support the club for the love of the club not because they are winning games. taking your kids to training is fair enough and missing a few game's to is all good but saying you will trade your membership for a foxtel subscription because THE CRAP YOU HAVE WATCHED this season. mate if i told yu what i really thought of that comment i would receive a life ban from mack.

I don't get why in aus in general people don't seem to be interested in ACL games. Even victory fans aren't. To me, the football is more interesting, usually more open, the Asian sides are usually more technically skilled, and they are not the same bloody teams every week. I'd rather watch these games than a-league. not because of the prestige or what have you but I just find them more interesting.

To be fair, crowds in most East Asian clubs ACL games are quite low.

Australian teams get comparable crowds in countries where you have to buy yourself a ticket.

Looking at the ACL 2015 regulations, how does the AFC have us listed above Seoul?

 

 

11.5.2 if two (2) or more Participating Clubs are equal on points on completion of the group Matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the ranking (in descending order):
 

11.5.2.1. higher number of points obtained in the group Matches played among the Participating Clubs in question;

11.5.2.2. superior goal difference from the group Matches played among the Participating Clubs in question;

11.5.2.3. higher number of goals scored in the group Matches played among the Participating Clubs in question;

11.5.2.4. higher number of goals scored away from home in the group Matches played among the Participating Clubs in question;

 

 

We are equal until 11.5.2.4, they have 1 away goal ' among the Participating Clubs in question' and we have 0.

Well my school holiday theory did nothing for attendance lol

I think that the school holidays actually hurt our attendance's.

The type of people who would bring their family to a game night (especially a cold one) are also the type of people to take their family away on holidays.

But even with a smaller crowd, how good was the spirit of the RBB last night!!!

I can confirm the South Coast is currently overrun with families in 4wd's towing boats/caravans.

 

Having such a high membership base is actually hurting the club, there's little to no opportunity for new fans to come in (ACL aside).

 

I'm happy that WSW have completely taken over Western Sydney though, even with the terrible season you can go to any shopping centre & you'll not only see a WSW sticker on every second car you'll lose count of the number of people walking around wearing jerseys.
