  • New Parramatta Stadium Revealed

    mack

The winning design for the new Western Sydney Wanderers stadium at Parramatta was revealed today by the NSW Government.

As work begins on the demolition of the new stadium, the 2019 stadium design has been unveiled. With numerous bidders for the work, the Government selected a joint bid between builders Lend Lease, and designer Populous.

Populous are well known in Australia & Asia, having designed the Sydney Olympic Stadium that the Western Sydney Wanderers are currently playing in, as well as stadiums on the Gold Coast, in Melbourne & New Zealand.

Unlike many other stadiums built in Australia, this is a purpose built rectangular stadium, and will have the steepest viewing angles in the country. There will be a single tier home end, while the main grandstand will be built with premium corporate hospital suites.

The new stadium if completed as designed looks like it will be the premier medium sized stadium in the country, and leaving all but a handful of stadiums in the dust. It is expected to be finished in 2019.

Lol, the glass between the corporate suit and the change rooms isn't going to work. At least 1 smart arse player is going to moon the corporate suit and that will be the end of it

To be honest it is more likely to be the other way around lol

Great to see WSW colours in the promotional video!

It all looks pretty good. Hopefully there will be standing areas for RBB included.

Where has the actual plan (as opposed to a sexy animated mock up) been released/posted i.e. what website?

    Quoted from the other thread:

    Oh wow looks good.

The stand with the corporate facilities - looks like theres not much room left for us plebs on the (western?) stand.

I like the animated flyover of the parra river in the video. I noticed sydney was exclusively red and black.

    My thoughts exactly

    :drats:

Although the shadow does suggest otherwise, I'd agree with what was said in the other thread that it's unlikely the they'd put the prawns in the sun.

Impressive video. Let's see what gets delivered.

And those not happy about the roof, remember that it never just rains at Wanderland. Monsoon conditions will ensure you get suitably soaked no matter where you are :xnod:

Sounds a bit like a mini-shopping centre judging from the video. Pretty fancy, and I think it's mentioned in the other thread that ~10% of the seating is prawn sandwich. Not too happy about that, but in terms of the steep seating it sounds great. Huge bonus if RBB gets standing as well!

I wonder if they made a similar one predominately using blue and yellow for the knuckle heads in the nearby leagues club?

Players and fans of the other clubs will get out of bed with a hard-on on Pirtek 2.0 match days.

After the last semi Broich said to Bridgey that it is an honour for the WSW team to play in front of such fans. Pirtek 2.0 will take concept of spectator sport in Australia to a new level.

Wow! How good does it look! I honestly can't wait until it's finished and these things always run over time. It makes putting up with SOP a lot more bearable when we know this will be the outcome.

The western stand in the sun? Y'all know the sun sets in the west, right?

Those that had Pirtek Stadium tickets on the western side that cannot be accommodated will be moved to the eastern tier, similar positions or offered elsewhere inside the stadium. No doubt the club will arrange a different ticket structure anyway, to suit the new stadium layout.

    Vimeo video pulled.

    Yeh. I wonder why?

I don't think it was a public release video. I'm guessing a Lend Lease/Populous one that was used for their bid.

I was thinking more about which side the corp facilities are on, and if you think the sun is raising or setting in the pic. If the sun is setting in this pic, then the corp facilities are on the eastern side and all good for us west grandstand peeps. If the sun is raising, then the corp facilities are in the western grandstand and us west grandstand peeps, as Carns said, seem to be out of luck.

At first look, I thought it was setting but reading what others said (ie the corp boxes aren't likely to be facing the sun and so would be on the western side), I'm probably wrong.

At least that what I was trying to say.

The video showed a VIP parking area bahind the western stand so you'd have to assume the corporate facilities would be on the west side.

Either they're showing the angle of the sun in the morning or the architects have an alarmingly poor understanding of how sunlight works.

    • Landed back in Sydney over 1 hour ago First of all **** those Once Were Warriors pricks! They have to be up there with the Smurfs as the most vile fans in the league. I was sitting on the other side of where the away support was with my relatives who live in NZ and I was wondering why some fans got dispersed at halftime until I heard about a dog shot to one of our fans there. Secondly, Mt Smart Stadium has to be up there as the shittest stadium in the league, smack bang in the middle of the ghetto in Auckland with little to no public transport access and very **** parking area. The food there are both **** and expensive, security are pathetic. And I thought NSW Cops were bad racists but cops in NZ take it to the next level targeting every Maori or Polynesian with a patch they come across in the stadium assuming they are criminals and try to find reasons to arrest them. So **** that place. Never returning to that shithole ever again. As for the game, we played much better than last week, we had a bit more energy, Kraev was very unlucky as he could've scored a Hattrick. I think his goal should have stood, I don't think Sapsford was in anyway offside. From where I was sitting, when Lawrence was playing out from the back, he slipped and was very unlucky to give that ball away which led to their goal. I wanted to see a bit more of Milanovic as he was quiet in the first half, he got more involved in the 2nd half and scored a great goal. Borello (bless him) works very hard but he at times is very ineffective and adds nothing to our attack other than wasting our chances. He should have been subbed earlier and brought Hammond on as we needed a bit more spark and energy to our attack. Mata needs more minutes than just coming on the 75th or 80th minute.
    • 4 points was the par score from these two NZ games. Nix was disappointing, but fair play to them as they raised their game and I think played well....but we still should have seen them off... Auckland was a decent point and would have been acceptable after a Nix win.. Ah well...undefeated run still going and we look like contenders...
    • Me too. Adelaide are in free fall, so I'm assuming they drop out.  There is also the possibility that at our final game against the bulls we are both contending for 6th spot, which would turn it into effectively the first round of the finals for both teams.
